Suzanne Armstrong is a quilter with a background in Graphic Design.
Her philosophy includes reuse and multi-purpose; waste not, want not and, yes, maybe help save the Earth at the same time. Her standards of craftsmanship are high. She believes that our clothing is tangible evidence of our experiences and memories. Her process uses intuition and design to place these memories in a pleasing arrangement in order for them to carry on with a fresh purpose in our lives.
Each quilt is one of a kind, just like you.
Mimi has written an awesome book. I learned about kudzu! Interesting characters, excellent language reflecting time and place, sharp sentences. Wish I had been as smart as Mattie, the main character, when I was younger! My heart was truly invested through the entire story. Thank you, Mimi for your hard work to bring this to us!
This amazing embroidery from Peru is getting a backing and rod pocket so it can be hung on the wall. Wavy edges have determined that I stitch by hand to “ease” the bulk. I LOVE handwork! My new direction?
Eight new pre-approved fabric prints added. Waiting approval to start sewing! Red fabric is Bella Solids Scarlet from #fatquartershop in Austin. Thank you Kimberly!
First design mock up with edits! Awaiting new fabrics. Creation is hard work for a five year old? Big decisions! So impressed with his participation. Yay Mom!!!
Obviously cannot follow directions! Pattern was just not enough! Happy 5th birthday Hazel, my little mermaid. This will be in the mail tomorrow so you can cook with your Dad.
Next project.
He LOVES red. Choosing which way to make it. Age 5 is a great age to get a quilt made!
These two matching quilts were delivered this week. Made from the Mother’s shirts for family keepsakes. Quilted by Joanna at Kustom Quilts. So meaningful!
Working on a pocket for the back of a needlepoint pillow started by my maternal grandmother to document it. Inspired by All That She Carried by Tiya Miles.
